Happy Thanksgiving from the NFL!

The third Thursday of every November is a day that many people look forward to. It's a day where they get to be total gluttons and eat as much turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing drowned in gravy along with a few dozen rolls, some cranberry sauce, a healthy serving of sweet potatoes, and maybe even a serving of green beans casserole.

Then you get to sit back, watch the first football game , and then do it all over again--this time with desert first!

While we recover from our turkey induced commas we all have time to do what the holiday is truly intended for--reflecting on our lives and giving thanks for what we have. Now I don't know for certain, but I'd like to imagine that the NFL is thankful for us--the fans--and that is why they try to put on a show for us to enjoy every Thanksgiving.

This season they did a pretty good job of doing just that. We got to see the Detroit Lions offense that lit up scoreboards last year. Too bad Arian Foster, Andre Johnson, and the Texans defense showed up enough to get the win in overtime, 34-31.

Robert Griffin III continued to show why he deserved the Heisman last year and will be a top contender for offensive rookie of the year. It sure is nice when his receivers catch all those passes he hits them in the hands with.

Dallas continues to specialize in metaphorical cardiac arrests; you know, play like crap for at least a half before going all out to try to win it in the second half except this time it was too little too late (they lost 38-31).

Then there's the Jets--the team whose dysfunction makes us all appreciate our own families a little more (some one please film these guys for a reality show; we need something to take the place of Jersey Shore when it goes off the air).

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots can always be counted on for an offensive explosion, and got some help from the Jets implosion en route to a 49-19 win.

You name, we had it in a day of great NFL action; not a bad way to say 'thank you' on Thanksgiving by the NFL, huh? In case you missed any of the action check out this gallery and see what some players in the NFL are thankful for!
