Why I Dig Peyton Manning and Why the KC Chiefs are Not Very Good

This is one of those stories that you hear about and kept help but wonder what these guys are thinking.

Apparently after the Denver Broncos played a less than stellar game and still beat the Kansas City Chiefs, two of the Chiefs stars--Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe--decided it was an appropriate time to play fan boy. Charles hit up Peyton Manning for an autograph and Bowe took a picture with them.

Yep; these two so-called professionals were acting just like you or I after losing yet another game. Both were clearly very happy with their new souvenirs. Charles tried to say it was for his Mom, but Bowe was a little more honest.
"It's Peyton Manning," he said. "Who wouldn't want a picture with him?"
This is not to say that being a fan and hitting up stars like Peyton is a bad thing. Given the opportunity I would definitely go for a photo op with Peyton Manning. The guy is easily one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game. Like Bowe said, who wouldn't want to?

So then what's wrong with these guys doing what they did?

They are not fans; they are colleagues. As colleagues they should have a little more professionalism than to hit up an opposing player right after he beats them for an autograph and picture. It's what fans do; not players.

Does that mean that these guys can't be fans of some one line Peyton Manning; someone that they likely grew up watching before they made it into the NFL? They were just fans at one time too.

True as that may be, they are no longer just fans. They are professionals and need to act accordingly. What these actions tell me is that these guys may be more worried about the mystic of a guy like Peyton (like a fan would be) rather than beating him. Acting like little fan boys tells me that they are not too concerned with the fact that their dropped yet another game.

Come on guys. At least wait till the cameras are not around.

Oh--and Manning, being the class act that he is, simply obliged with their requests.
