It was either them or a pic of some dumb drunk guy. |
However, I would be willing to bet that they are glad--no, ecstatic--that they did not have to worry about their every little step and misstep on and off the field being served up to the public for approval...and more often than not disapproval. courtesy of the media.
The embarrassing case of former Washington Redskins defensive back Fred Smoot is a perfect example.
Smoot, who has been out of football since 2009, was pulled over in Washington D.C. December 30 because he had no tags on his car (duh!). The officer smelled alcohol and to make a long story short he was arrested for driving under the influence.
That's nothing! Guys get arrested for driving drunk all the time! However, in Smoot's case the story gets a lot worse.
While being processed he wet his pants. He never asked to go to the restroom. He never mentioned that he had to go. He never asked to be excused. He just let it go right where he was creating a little puddle underneath him.
If he was still playing football I can just imagine the crap his team would put him through--especially since he played such a major role in the Vikings Sex Boat Scandal in 2005. His locker would be full of adult diapers; his name tag would be changed to Tinkle Toes; some one would ask if he's taking a golden shower after practice...
The possibilities are endless. It's a good thing you aren't playing anymore Fred.
