JaMarcus Russell to the Jets? (Be Insulted Tim)

I do feel a little guilty for bashing the New York Jets so much. After all, I did go to school in NYC for a few years and watched the Jets (because there was no one else).  In all honesty, I did like the guys back then (1992-97). They were not always very good, but they competitive more often than not.

This season though--all circus, all the time. So far this off-season it appears like that is going to continue. Take the recent revelation that the team actually discussed bringing in JaMarcus Russell. Supposedly the team's personnel department has talked about bringing in the 300+ pound former LSU/Oakland Raider QB to give Mark Sanchez some competition.

Really? The only reason they should even remotely be considering bringing in JR is if they want to be able to say with a straight face at the start of next season that Mark Sanchez truly was the best option the team had at quarterback.

Oh--and Mr. Tebow, if you are not seriously offended by the fact that they consider the biggest draft bust in NFL history to be competition for the starter's role--well, you should be.
