While I have this one coming in fourth there are some guys that might say it belongs at the top of the list--with people thinking or believing you were nothing but a no-good, dirty rotten Lance Armstrong--I mean cheat.
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis is retiring after the Super Bowl next Sunday and it looks like he might have a small scandal chasing him out the door.
His part in a murder trial over a decade ago has been dredged up a lot already (and will likely be much more). Since then he has been relatively scandal free. Instead he has worked diligently to become one of the best linebacker to ever play the game and a pillar in the community.
His career appeared to be done earlier this season when he tore a triceps muscle. Somehow he made it back for the team's playoff run where he has played brilliantly so far--a fitting swan song to such a long and historic career.
The question is--how did he heal so fast? Some guys just do. Is that the case here? Or did he have help and from a banned substance at that?
A big topic off discussion throughout media day Tuesday was the possibility that it was a banned substance that did help Lewis make it back so quickly, S.W.A.T.S. or Sports With Althernatives to Steroids.
To make the long story short, Lewis has supposedly been a long time user of this product called The Ultimate Spray, one that contains a banned substance (IGF-1) according to the company's own admission.
When it comes down to it, whether or not Ray Lewis is or has used this product does not matter. Two years ago when it became an issue with another player no one bothered to test it to see exactly what it contained. Without actual proof of contents a player can't be busted for using it.
Even if they had tested it back then testing players for it would have needed to be something that was discussed as part of the CBA.
So without actual knowledge of the products contents Lewis can't be busted for taking a banned substance.
Is it just me, or is this something that could have/should have been discussed earlier in the day before folks started going crazy?
