(Everyone and their brother has done a story about this so I figured, hey-why not me? I'm a true Texans fan after all!) Anyway...
Twitter is great for guys like me who are trying to promote articles and blog posts to the rest of the world in hopes of getting a bigger audience, but for regular folks it is just plain evil. Let me rephrase that--for no one cares what regular folks have to say, but for athletes and entertainers it is plain evil (LeSean McCoy could tell you about that right about now!).
Too often college and pro athletes tend to jump on Twitter and share their thoughts without really thinking them through first. Nor do they consider how their comments could be perceived as well. Some would say they don't care because their 'keeping it real,' but when they fail to get that big endorsement they suddenly care a whole lot.
For some players and even whole teams Twitter has cause so much havoc that coaches have banned players from using it. That is why when a story arises about a player using the power of Twitter for good it is worth noting.
Houston Texans defensive lineman and possible Defensive POY J.J. Watt took to Twitter on Monday to get a little help trying to find the young lady that made the above video:
@JJWatt: Does anyone happen to know this cute little girl?
We have to find her and turn those tears into a smile.
A little background is necessary--At some point in time Watt had expressed his dismay about not being able to find a girlfriend. Apparently the little lady in the video wanted to fill the position, but became upset when she was told she was too young. Mom appears to have recorded her daughter crying and posted it to YouTube.
Before I continue--does anyone else think it is messed up that Mom posted a video of her daughter crying to YouTube? Okay, the reason is kinda silly, but her daughter is crying and she's sharing that with the world? That ain't right.
Anyway...J.J. must have got the help that he needed because he posted this message along with this photo collage to Twitter:
@JJWatt:: Thanks to your help, we found 6-year-old Breanna and she
said yes to being my pretend wife for the day...
Yeah; that J.J. Watt guy is alright.
