For 2 ½ hours he met with an ESPN reporter (Jeremy Schaap)
on Friday. No video was taken; we just have Schaap and his recorder to count on
here.
While this is nice—finally getting some dialogue going—it isn’t
enough and I’d think that his agents had to tell him that. Come on Manti! Man
up and get in front of a camera.
Some of the things he said were not to revealing, but there
were others that were. He admitted to lying to his dad and embellishing a
little bit about the relationship. Sticking with an online relationship that
long sounded crazy (yes it does), and he didn't want to have to deal with the
questions and BS that he would likely have received (and there would have been
a lot).
There is a point where I would say that he took the honesty
thing too far. According to Manti he got a direct message over twitter a few
days ago from Ronaiah Tuiasosopo admitting his guilt. A
couple days ago the two talked over the phone for the first time where he again
admitted his guilt in the hoax.
He also stated that there were
two other people involved, a man and a woman.
Here comes the rich part—it was
at this point that Manti became 100 percent convinced that Lennay Kekua was not
real.
Ummm…after she returned from
the dead wasn’t enough? Or the investigator’s report?
Wow! Manti, dude, you should
have kept that one to yourself.
At this point I think the focus
will shift a little more towards Ronaiah, but more importantly who the other
two accomplices are.
