Manti Te'o to be on Katie Couric's Show

If you've been following the whole fake girlfriend story involving Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o you have probably been wondering one thing--why on Earth has this fool not gotten in front of a camera? Well, it looks like he finally will.

The announcement came on Sunday that Manti will do an interview with Katie Couric to be aired on her show on Thursday (can anyone say ratings boost?).

I sure hope she does a much better job than Oprah did with Lance Armstrong. Yes, the kid (as far as know) did nothing wrong other than to be too trusting and lie to his parents. However, if we are ever going to find out differently whomever questions him needs to go for the jugular

Me? I've been in Camp Manti this whole time. I can see where someone that has little to no social skills could get so involved in an online relationship that he falls for the girl without ever seeing her. It's kind of  sweet actually; like he fell for her personality rather than her body.

As any reasonable person could or should realize, Manti was embarrassed about having feelings for someone he never saw so he embellished parts of the relationship to his Dad and others; not unusual.

The only thing that bugs me is the time that he is taking in coming out of his hole in the ground to talk about this mess. Why isn't he trying to get it over with so folks will move on? Hasn't any of his advisers told him that as soon as people know what there is to know they don't care to know it anymore?

By waiting a few days to talk to a reporter off camera I became a little suspicious  Why the wait? Did he need time to get his story straight? Why off camera? Did he want to make sure no one could read his body language?

The one thing we do know is that this whole scandal is one big, stupid mess. Rip him a new one Katie so we can get to the bottom of this!
