The steal of the draft this season is easily the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson.
After a stellar preseason he was named the starter over free agent Matt Flynn. He got off to a slow start, but proved just how much of a genius Pete Carroll is by leading the team to the post season, and giving them every reason to believe that the 'Hawks are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the near future.
Owner Paul Allen has to be happy about this; especially since he is only paying Wilson $2.99 million over the first four years of his career.
Steal? Yep! So when rumors circulated that Wilson's reps were asking the team to "show him the money."
When his actual representation caught wind of the rumor he (Bus Cook) was quick to squash. Like any good agent he knows that rookies are wrapped into their contracts for at least the first three years. It was one of the new things that was agreed upon under the new CBA.
What probably happened here was someone from Cook's agency was overheard talking about how Russell Wilson is grossly underpaid, and how he should demand more money (like Chris Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew; because it worked for them...). The wrong person overheard the discussion, wrote a story, and the internet took it from there.
Darn internet. It's all our fault.
