Adrian Peterson Cleans Up; Wins MVP, Offensive POY, and Fantasy POY
When you run for almost 2100 yards, score 13 touchdowns (12 rushing, 1 receiving), and help turn your team around from 3-13 one season to 10-6 and a wild card berth it is safe to say that you deserve a little recognition.
Adrian Peterson certainly got some of that Saturday night.
By coming within nine yards of breaking Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record it didn't take much to see AP getting the Offensive POY award.
What was up in the air was the MVP award. Peyton Manning also had a stellar season leading the Broncos to a 13-3 record and setting close to career-best in several categories. AP fans would be upset if Peyton won, but they would understand.
However, when you look at the body of work a little closer you can see why Peterson got 30.5 votes to Peyton's 19.5.
The Broncos were good. They had a good line, good running backs, and good wide receivers. They had a solid defense giving Peyton the ball pretty often as well. AP--not so much. Christian Ponder had an up and down season and he didn't always have the weapons to work with either.
That left it up to AP to keep the Vikings in it most of the time--and keep him in it he did.
Congratulations to Adrian Peterson and all the other award winners this season!
