A lot of the talk about the Super Bowl has of course been about the players and the game--you know, the football. Then there have been the stories outside of the game that matter most like who was seen acting a fool at what party (Gronk?), what ad is racist or sexy, and how the world is going to get by if there is indeed a shortage on wings for the game today (since we usually go through 1.25 billion of them; yes, billion).
Then there is the gambling. New Jersey caused a stink earlier this season when they said the state was going to start allowing wagering on games in their casinos. That hasn't happened yet of course. I'm sure the NFL will have a lot to say about that, and will likely tie that notion up in the courts for years to come (or until Governor Christie forgets about it; I hear Twinkies might be coming back so that could be soon...)
Anyway....gambling and sports are almost synonymous. People like to win and not just in theory when they cheer for the winning team. They want something tangible something they can hold in their hands--money. Either that or the knowledge that a buddy will have to do something completely humiliating (that's always fun).
For some, just betting on who will win the game is enough. If that is your thing than you'll be glad to hear that the San Francisco 49ers are a 4.5 point favorite over the Baltimore Ravens.
However, just betting on the outcome is boring. There are a million and one different things that can occur during a game--especially one like the Super Bowl--and there are people that will put money on anything!
