Ed Reed Makes History and Helps Colin Kapernick Do It Too

Ed Reed has been a man among men in the NFL for years, and a lynch pin to the success of the Baltimore Ravens defense. The 34-year old veteran has played in many a post season game, but this was his first Super Bowl. What better game to tie a post season record in?

In the above clip he put a screeching halt to any attempt Colin Kapernick was going to make at getting the 49ers in the game with an interception about midway through the second quarter.

It did not lead directly to points, but it almost did. The team lined up for a field goal, but had place kicker Justin Tucker fake it and try to run for the first instead. He failed to make it, but it did pin the 49ers deep.

The pick did end up being significant for both Reed and Kaepernick.

It was career post season pick No. 9 for him, tying him for the record. For Kapernick--and more importantly the 49ers--it was the first interception that a 49ers quarterback has ever thrown in a Super Bowl.

Ouch; not exactly something you want to be known for Colin. Good luck trying to look Joe Montana or Steve Young in the eye next time you see them.
