Out With the Old in the With the New in Jacksonville

After getting off to a hot start when the franchise first started back in the mid-90's the Jacksonville Jaguars have been ice cold. The last time these guys saw any real glory was back in 1999 when they spanked Jimmie Johnson's Miami Dolphins 62-7 in the Division Playoff round; not the way that ole J.J. wanted to end his NFL coaching career...

They went on to lose to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship that year, and since then have only made it to the playoffs twice (winning just once; 31-29 in Wildcard round over the Steelers in '07). Over the next five seasons they went from mediocre to bad.

This year they flat out sucked. Suffice it to say it was time for a change.

So they changed the logo.

As a non-fan of the team I dig the new logo. I think the colors pop more; the eyes look with the color; and the logo looks a little more fierce. If I were to move to Jacksonville and start covering the team on a regular basis I would gladly buy a t-shirt and hat (I draw the line at jerseys).

However, as a fan I would be a little annoyed. Yes, it would still look much cooler than the old one, but now I would feel the need to buy all new fan apparel.

That crap cost serious money man! Maybe that's why they did it...how else will they cover the cost of Tim Tebow's contract...
