Peyton Manning Named Comeback Player of the Year
This one was a little tough to call with two candidates that were both worthy in Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
In one you had a guy that blew out his knee and came back in incredible time to have one of the best seasons for a running back in NFL history. The other guy had the kind of neck injury that should have ended his career.
When you put it that way the winner is pretty clear, huh?
Yep, you guessed it--Peyton Manning.
It helped of course that he had the best defense in his career giving the ball back to him, some of the most talented wide receivers and tight ends that he has ever had (and he has had some really good ones), the best running game of his career, and an awesome offensive line.
The fact is that at his age and with another serious neck injury he should have retired; no one would have faulted him if he had. Instead he came back and had one of the best seasons of his career.
His completion percentage (68.6), yards (4659), yards per game (291.2), touchdowns (37), and QB rating (105.8) were all the second best numbers of his career.
Nice job Peyton. Now how's about throwing a FatMan a pizza or something?
