Denver Nuggets No Longer Streaking; Hornets Stop Streak at 15

The trouble with winning streaks is that they always have to come to an end eventually. The Denver Nuggets know this. They just never figured that their streak would be halted by one of the worst teams in the league who would be led by a rookie starting in his second game.

But that is exactly what happened.

The outcome was never really in doubt. Thanks in large part to the timely passes of Brian Roberts the Hornets were able to get out to an early lead en route to a 59-38 half time score before eventually winning 110-86.

Brian Roberts essentially stole the show with 18 assists--11 coming in the first half-- to go with 13 points. He recorded more assists than the Nuggets did as a team. To put the feat further into perspective, in four seasons playing for the University of Dayton he never had a single game with 10 assists!
''It's crazy to fathom, having 18 assists,'' Roberts said. ''Guys play years and don't have that many assists. Somebody pointed out I had more assists than they had as a team. For me to come out in my second start and do that is just a testament to my teammates making shots.''
The Hornets got out to an early 25-11 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Denver got as lose as nine points in the second half closing the gap to 67-58, but the Hornets responded with a couple quick 3s to put the lead back over double digits to stay.
