Johnny Manziel Gets Aggressive with Assistant Coach

Social media and the World Wide Web makes it possible for athletes and other celebrities to be put under a microscope practically 24/7. Such has been the case with Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel ever since he became the only freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy.

The masses have not always been kind to Johnny Football since then. They will likely not be too kind when the latest piece of news gets out.

During a recent practice things were not going Manziel's way, and after his third interception of the practice a graduate assistant got in his face. Manziel did not take too kindly to be yelled at by someone so he pushed him.

Players and coaches quickly separated the two to make sure the matter did not go any further.

I am willing to bet that folks are going to be split into one of three camps on this incident:

  1. They are going to blow it off as something that happens in the testosterone driven aggressive game of football.
  2. They are going to say that Kevin Sumlin needs to do something about Manziel. Players should not put their hands on a coach--ever. At the same time Sumlin should have a talk with the grad assistant for how he handled himself, but Manziel is responsible for his own actions. It doesn't matter if another person was agitating him.
  3. The reporter is blowing the whole thing out of proportion and it is no big deal at all.
Only time will tell if this becomes another smudge on the Manziel's media image or if it falls by the wayside and is forgotten.

In a community where respect is expected (college football that is; especially in Texas where the sport is held in such high regard) it would be interesting to hear what the masses think about this incident/non-incident.
