U.S. Men's National Soccer Team Does the Unthinkable--They Don't Lose in Mexico!

The Mexican Men's National Team tends to do one thing almost always when they host a World Cup qualifier at home--win. In fact, they have only lost once and tied eight times while winning 68 games on their home pitch; an incredible run to say the least.

The U.S. Men's National Team is one of the many that have not done well south of the border. Before Tuesday's game they were 0-13-1. So needless to say there was not much hope for the U.S. who really needed not to lose in order to keep their qualifying hopes alive.

And they did it playing the Mexican team to a scoreless tie!
"We are in really good shape now," said DaMarcus Beasley. "The next game is always important, but getting points away from home like this is huge. You don't qualify for the World Cup on one night or with one game, but this feels like a big step."
The conditions for the game were in stark contrast to the last qualifier the U.S. played just a few days ago in Colorado against Costa Rica.

Clint Dempsey scored for the U.S sixteen minutes into that game. Around the 55th minute the refs were ready to call it due to the weather conditions, but the players convinced them to let play continue.

After the game the Costa Ricans made an official complaint to FIFA, requesting a new game due to the weather but were denied.

The USMNT will not play again till June so they will have plenty of time to enjoy the non-loss.
