Antonio Cromartie Dishes Out Some Advice For Young Players

There are some guys that you can look at and see them giving advice to people. They are successful, nothing has ever appeared to go wrong for them, and all is well.

And they would be the wrong people to listen to. The NFL knows this which is why it has guys like Antonio Cromartie speaking to young players.

I've got how many kids by how many women?

It may seem strange since he has squandered much of the money that he has made since he has been in the league, and has more kids by more women than even he can remember. If memory serves me right, he even needed an advance on his salary before joining the Jets so he could deal with a child support issue.

And the NFL is okay with this guy giving advice? Yes, but there is a method to the madness. Who better to tell guys what not to do then someone who has made just about every career misstep in the book?

In the past the NFL has had former bad boys attend rookie symposiums to speak about things. Terrell Owens has done it as has Adam 'Pacman' Jones.

So why not Cromartie? Heck, all he has to say is if it sounds like anything he would do don't do it!

He does actually have some good advice:

“I want to help others learn from what I did wrong,” Cromartie told Bob Glauber ofNewsday, “I tell the young guys, ‘Don’t spend any money the first year and a half of your career.

“You don’t know what will happen after that. You might be released. You might be hurt. Just save your money.”

Hmm...makes sense. Too bad the NFL isn't looking for middle-aged fat guys or I could try his advice out.
