Notre Dame QB Everett Golson Might Be Playing Football This Fall After All

Ever since the news broke that Notre Dame QB Everett Golson was suspended from school there have been rumors flying around as to what is next for the young man. He continues to insist that he will be back in South Bend next season, but that does not mean that other schools will not try to entice him into transferring.

As it turns out there is a good chance that he could be play football this fall--just not in South Bend or anywhere else you would expect.

Coach: You know you messed up; Golson: Yes, coach.

Recently Golson visited Riverside Community College (a junior college) in California. There is no word on whether he has started the enrollment process or anything, but it would not be shocking to see him playing their (or another JuCo) this fall.

With the NCAA rules the way they are he could play for a lower level college (than Division I)--like a JuCo--without having to sit out a year or messing up his eligibility.

So why not keep playing?

On one hand it sounds like a great idea. Golson could benefit from the experience. Even though he led the Fighting Irish to the national championship game last season he wasn't exactly a stellar player (good, just not great). Last season Notre Dame was more of a team oriented group; there really wasn't an offensive standout.

He could learn during his year off and return a better player. Or--he could get hurt and be lost to the Fighting Irish or any other school for another season.

Golson could also be looking at not playing at all (outside of intramurals) and just wants to go to school out on the west coast where the weather is nicer and there are beaches full of bikini-clad coeds...
