Dwight Howard Saw a Shrink During the Regular Season--Which is a Good Thing

Over the last year have any of you thought that Dwight Howard was a little crazy? That he needed some professional help? As it turns out he agrees with you (on the second question at least).

Howard was hanging out with a reporter from the LA Times over the weekend and decided to share an interesting bit of information--he say a shrink during the season.

He did not go into great detail saying just this:
“I have only one problem, and it’s between my ears,” he told Simers. “I just think too much.”
To be fair to Howard it wasn't his own doctor, but a team psychiatrist--so its not like he is the only one who has issues. The Lakers are probably not the only team that has a team shrink either. Heck, there's even a popular shot on cable that is about a psychiatrist that treats athletes, Necessary Roughness:

Pro athletes are under an intense amount of scrutiny and have some pretty high expectations thrust upon them by the fans, their teammates, the team owner, the media, themselves--the list could go on and on.

While there are likely going to be many that will skewer Howard for admitting that he saw a psychiatrist during the season, I for one applaud him for doing so. There is no shame with getting a little help.

It's a lot better than imploding either on or off the field and ruining your career.
