Houston Rockets Looking to Do What it Takes to Get Dwight Howard

The NBA draft is drawing near and it is time for the trade hype to hit overdrive—especially where it concerns Dwight Howard.

The Houston Rockets are a good team as is. After essentially getting thrown together at the last minute they went on to win 45 games and return to the post season after a three year absence. Not bad, right?

No, it wasn’t bad at all—but the Rockets want better, and they are willing to pay for it even if it means having to pay a luxury tax next season.

“I have enough money, but I don’t have enough championships,” Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said. “If you’re not in it to win championships, you shouldn’t be in it.”

It has been no secret what the Rockets are going to do. The team has been preparing to put the full-court press on to entice Dwight Howard (and possibly Chris Paul) to leave the bright lights of Los Angeles for Houston. When the Rockets say they are not going to hold back they mean it.

General manager Daryl Morey has essentially been working on freeing up cap room since last season; something he has proven to be masterful at even with the addition of James Harden's contract. He isn't done yet either....
