Rockets Pitch to Dwight Howard Good—But Not Perfect

It has been a longtime coming. Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey has been building up to pitching Dwight Howard since last off-season. He’s ready. The team’s ready, and the city is ready to return to champion form.

And it looks like it will happen—maybe.

Houston has long been considered the front runner for Howard and made their pitch to him at the Bel Air Hotel Sunday night, and they didn't hold anything back (accept maybe the mascot and the dancers).

It would be easier to say who didn't go than who did. Key to the talks were team owner Leslie Alexader, Morey, Head Coach Kevin McHale, two of his potential teammates (James Harden and Chandler Parsons) as well as two of the team’s former greats (Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler).

Yao Ming even gave Howard a pep talk via Skype: “We have a young team, a talented team that has ability to reach championship level with you.”...
