Take a look at the team’s history and you can see that the Cowboys are seldom out of the playoffs. After a break from 1986-90 there have only been two other occasions when the club has gone more than two years between playoff appearances, from 2000-02 and from 2010-12.

Actually, since the 2000 season Dallas has only made post season play four times and won just one playoff game (2009). The last one before that was in 1996 when Barry Switzer was still at the helm, a span of 12 seasons—easily the longest in franchise history.

Since winning is no longer the norm for the Cowboys it is not surprising that many question Dallas being called America’s Team. The only way to quite the talk, however, is to win.

So will this be the year they finally do it? Well, if the way they played in the third preseason game is any indication the answer is yes....
