Did Tim Tebow Do Enough to Earn a Roster Spot?

One of the most celebrated back-up quarterbacks in NFL history (has there ever been a back-up that has received Tebow-type coverage without taking over for an injured starter?) was playing for his job Thursday night in the final preseason game of the 2013 NFL season.

Now the question is this--did Tim Tebow do enough to earn a job?

Tebow got to play the second half of Thursday night's game against the New York Giants and overall I'd have to say the grade is--not bad. Yes, there were a number of not-so-good moments; he certainly was sacked way too many times. To be fair though, he was playing with a line that will probably not be on the roster after the final cuts.

What he did do is show fans and the coaches that when given the time he can do some great things (like the above touchdown pass to Quinton Sims; one of two on the night). On the night he ended up going 6-11 for 91 yards with two touchdowns and one interception along with six carries for 30 yards.

He may not always look the best, but there is one talent that Tebow has most quarterbacks do not-- his unwavering positive attitude. Most players would begin to have doubts if they were criticized as much as Tebow. Lots of them have a hard time recovering from mistakes in a game and moving on.

Tebow doesn't. Ask him and I am sure he would chalk it up to his faith, but he just doesn't know how to quit or give up. That ability is what puts him in the position to make the plays that he does.

Now if he is ever going to start he is going to need to figure out how to make fewer of those mistakes that create a need for his heroics, but for now I would not be shocked if he has done enough to earn a roster spot.

Maybe his character can rub on some of his teammates and he can learn a thing or two from Tom Brady...
