Bruno Mars to Headline Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Football fans will have to wait a few months to find out who is going to play in the Super Bowl, but they may not have long to wait to find out who is going to perform at halftime. There is no official word just yet, but there is reason to believe that popular crooner Bruno Mars is going to be tabbed to headline the halftime show.

According to a story in the Los Angeles Times the NFL is expected to name Mars as this season's featured performer soon. Ever since the Nipple-Gate show in 2004 the NFL has gone with established mega-stars like The Who, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Beyonce.

You know--ones the league could trust not to have a wardrobe malfunction (mostly because no one would want to see many of the acts in the buff).

Mars is relatively new on the music scene with just two albums under his belt, his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010) and Unorthodox Jukebox (2012).

The NFL is not saying anything just yet of course, but it did give two names that would not be performing--Janet Jackson and Miley Cyrus. An announcement could come as early as this Sunday.
