Texas A&M Fan Pays Small Fortune for First '12THMAN' License Plate

College football fans are nuts and will often hold nothing back in order to show their love and support for their team. There are countless pictures on the internet of people making all kinds of patterns in cornfields, turning their lawns into replica football fields, making their dog a living logo--the list could go on and on.

But none of them would match up to what one fan did in order to have the right to the first 12THMAN license plate in the football crazy state of Texas.

Last year the state of Texas passes a law to allow license plates to have seven letters/numbers on them. That opened the door wide open for one of the most desired vanity plates in the state, 12THMAN, in honor of the long standing Texas A&M tradition.

I guess the state contracts personalized plates to a company called My Plates so they got the rights to it. Knowing they had a hot one on their hands they put that sucker up for auction. At noon central time Thursday the auction ended.

And the winning bid--$115,000.

Yes, $115K.

For a license plate.

The lucky/rich winner will be awarded the plate during half time of the game Saturday and will be able to keep it for the next decade with the option to renew it for $795.

So does anyone know what the insurance premium will be to cover a $115K license plate?
