Koji Uehara picks off Rookie Kolten Wong to End Game 4 and Preserve Win For Red Sox

It appears that the universe has corrected itself. After being handed a win in Game 3 of the World Series by the umpires, the Cardinals lost Game 4 after rookie Kolten Wong was picked off at first after taking too big of a lead off.

It was the first time in post season history that a game ended when a player was picked off; a dubious distinction that the youngster will have to live with for sometime.

Carlos Beltran put the Cardinals ahead with an RBI single in the third that scored Matt Carpenter (who did have his pants pulled up and buckled when he crossed home plate). The Red Sox tied it up with a sacrifice fly in the 5th that scored David Ortiz (so either the Cardinals fell asleep or it was a really deep ball).

Johnny Gomes put the Red Sox up for good in the 6th with a three-run home run.

Boston was able to overcome its two errors giving them seven for the series (and 11 total between the two teams) to tie the series up at two game a piece. Game Five will be Monday night at 8:07 PM ET.
