Red Sox Dominate Cardinals in Game One of the World Series

This World Series has the makings of being a special one; a rarity where the team with the best records in baseball meet in the World Series to play for the right to call themselves champions--and you wouldn't know it from the way Game One played out.

Boston got on top early with five runs in the first two innings and never looked back en route to an easy 8-1. Jon Lester pitched a great game for the Red Sox going 7 2/3 innings scattering five hits and a walk along the way as well as eight strikeouts.

A similar effort was expected out of St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright, but instead he looked like he looked like a rookie that was blinding by the big lights of the World Series stage. He was pulled after just five innings, but will be remembered most for not making one of the easiest plays in baseball.

St. Louis will look to bounce back in Game Two Thursday night with rookie sensation Michael Wacha on the mound, but will likely have to do so without Carlos Beltran. The veteran outfielder was taken to the hospital after crashing into the wall to steal a grand slam from David Ortiz.
