Golden Gophers--Not the Vikings--the Best Football Team in Minneapolis?

The Minnesota Golden Gophers football team is having one of its best seasons in recent history. The last time they finished a season with seven wins was in 2008; the last time they had more than that was in 2003. With seven wins already--and four games still to play--there is a chance they could finish with the best record the school has seen since 1904!

So it should come as no surprise that they recently called themselves " the best football team in town" recently.

The claim came when the following tweet was sent:

Wait....what? Are they forgetting about the Vikings? Yeah, they may not be having a great season, but they could undoubtedly destroy a college team.

It was likely just an oversight. While general in nature it was not meant to lay claim to anything, but when you are having one of the best seasons in recent history you feel like bragging. Eventually someone sent out another tweet in an attempt to clairfy what was meant:

An apology was made too; just in case anyone did feel offended:

So in the end it was a silly little misconception that tried to present two important messages:

1. The Gophers are pretty darn good, and
2. Some cheap seats are still available.
