Michigan State Wins Paul Bunyan Trophy for Fifth Time in Six Years

It's November now and as far as college football is concerned that means one thing--rivalry games. We have seen a few already, but this month we are going to see quite a few each and every week. Saturday saw one of the best in the land play for the 106th time between the Michigan State Spartans and the Michigan Wolverines.

Win and you climb higher in the rankings, stay alive for the conference title, and take home the Paul Bunyan Trophy; lose and you probably drop out of the top 25, have almost no chance at the conference title, and have to hear about losing this game until next season.

So from that first GIF any guesses as to who won? The rivalry has been dominated by the Spartans in recent years and the domination continued this season with Michigan State winning 29-6 in the end. It was a close game at the half, 13-6, in favor of Michigan State, but the Wolverines could not get any kind of offense going and was shut out in the second half.

The game started out much like any of the previous 105 meetings between the two teams--with a little pushing and shoving.

From Bleacher Report
Michigan State kicked a field goal in the third to make it 16-6, but started to ice the game when quarterback Connor Cook bashed his way into the end zone from a yard out to make the score 22-6 (PAT blocked).

Late in the game Jeremy Langford made sure there was no chance the Wolverines could come back--final score MSU 29 and UM 6.
