Nebraska Reminds Us That the Hail Mary Does On Occasion Work

Bo Pelini has been feeling some heat of late, and had the Cornhuskers lost to Northwestern there is little doubt that folks like former Nebraska great Tommie Frazier would have given it to the ole ball coach even more.

When Northwestern kicked a short field goal with a little more than a minute left it wasn't looking too good, but then something strange happened. A Hail Mary actually worked!

What makes this play even more epic than a Hail Mary would normally be is the people involved. If we were talking about something between long time starting quarterback Taylor Martinez and any of his receivers you could chalk it up to chemistry or something; Maritinez knew where to put it.

But no. It was the third string quarterback (Martinez was hurt and Tommy Armstrong not playing so hot) and a player that had yet to catch a touchdown pass during his college career, Jordan Westerkamp.

Nice job guys. Next up--Michigan.
