New Orleans Saints Run the Dumbest 4th and Inches Play Ever

The New York Jets surprised the NFL Sunday when they defeated the New Orleans Saints 26-17. What may have been more surprising was one of the play calls made by the Saints. For some odd reason with the ball a nose away from the 35-yard line on 4th and inches they decided to go for a trick play; an end around that did not have a chance in being successful.

Come on Sean Payton! WTF?

From Bleacher Report
There were so many other options that would have been so much better:
  1. straight dive; yes, it is expected but you don't have far to go
  2. QB sneak; same reason as above
  3. field goal; would have been a long one, but even if they missed and gave the Jets good field position New York was not moving the ball much
  4. a bootleg would have even been better than the horrible play that was called (if they had to try to be tricky)
When you make a call this bad I hate to say it, but you should expect to lose.
