Richard Sherman Apologizes for Post Game Rant About Michael Crabtree

When the NFC Championship game ended with the Seattle Seahawks earning a trip to the Super Bowl the attention should have been on how well the defense played against a tough San Francisco offense and how Russell Wilson and the rest of the offense were able to make plays when they needed to most.

Instead it was on Richard Sherman and his post game rant.

Sherman has since explained his remarks, and while he has not backed off of them he has apologized for making them because they took the focus away from where it belonged.

The talk has been mostly about the interview Sherman gave Erin Andrews in the minutes immediately following the game, but he also gave one to Werder as well:

Reactions on this apology are likely going to be as mixed as they were about his rant, but there is one thing that can't be argued. He is one of if not the best in the game, and until someone proves he is not he can talk all he wants.

Is it classless? Is it thug-ish? Is it unsportsmanlike?

I'd say that's up to the individual to decide. Me? I'm looking forward to next week when the best defense and the best offense in the league go head to head.

Than we'll see who earns the right to talk.

  1. Ok, for all those HATING on Sherman, very few people have EVER been in his situation. He just made an AMAZING play against a WR. Sherman and Crabtree go at each other ALL THE TIME on the field: physically and verbally.
Sherman made a GREAT play against a guy he has a beef with. And then, within minutes of that happening, he was put LIVE on national TV. No time to process. No time to decompress.
I'm not forgiving him...but 99% of us in that EXACT same place, would do something similar.
