Houston will be faced with that predicament when it steps up to the podium May 8th. The team’s biggest need is clearly at quarterback, but with the caliber of talent at other positions the choice may not be an easy one.
The popular pick—at least among the home crowd—is Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. In his two seasons at the helm for the Aggies he has proven to be the definition of a dual threat quarterback. His elusiveness has become so legendary that even veteran NFL quarterbacks are described as making a Manziel-like play when they escape impending danger.
With billboards going up around the Houston area to encourage the team to pick it’s pretty clear that fans would be happy to keep their favorite son home, but what makes him better than the other top quarterbacks and worthy of going No. 1?
Lousiville’s Teddy Bridgewater and Central Florida’s Blake Bortles are rated higher than Manziel by many experts. Both are quality quarterbacks that had solid careers at their respective schools, but there is something that Manziel has that they do not—the X factor....
