NFL Considering One of the Stupidest Rule Changes--Banning the Goal Post Dunk

The NFL needs to quit tinkering with the game. I get that some of the rule changes are intended to make the game safer, and that some are meant to help it run smoothly while others are intended to keep guys from doing something stupid. So yes, sometimes the changes are good.

But this proposed change is not good. In fact, its pretty dang dumb.

From Bleacher Report
For some stupid reason the NFL is considering putting a ban on goal post dunks. Can anyone say the No Fun League strikes again?

Come on! It's bad enough that the league is cracking down on celebrations so hard that something as silly and simple as the Hingle McCringleberry thing that Lance Moore did last season resulted in a fine. Is emotion that bad a thing NFL?

There is a method to the madness. After Jimmy Graham dunked one last season he hung to the post and bent it. The game had to be halted in order to fix it. Do we really want to have to wait for the goal post to be fixed because of a celebration?

The use of props has already been banned by the league with the exception of the dunk and the Lambeau Leap. So if this one falls I can't help but think that the Leap will be soon to follow. I get why they want to make it a penalty (thanks Jimmy Graham), but the crossbar has been bent and a game delayed only once.

Do we really need to stop something because of one incident? Heck, most of the time the guys provide us with hilarious dunk fails!

So come on NFL--leave well enough alone.
