Sacramento Kings Owner Zings San Antonio Spurs; Calls Them Boring

The Sacramento Kings have never made it to the NBA Finals. In fact, they've only made it to the Conference Finals a couple times. The last time they made it the post season was the 2005-06 season So when the Kings owner--Vivek Ranadive--says he wants his team to be like the San Antonio Spurs (16 consecutive winning seasons, four NBA Championships) it is understandable.

He just doesn't want to be boring like the Spurs.

Here is what the man said:
"We want to be like the [San Antonio] Spurs, but exciting,"Ranadive told Truehoop's Jared Dubin. "We want to create a winning franchise that is a perennial contender, and we also want a strong defense, combined with up-tempo play."
Hmmm...winning is exciting Mr. Ranadive. Going to the playoffs year in and year out is pretty exciting too. If you want to look at it on a game by game level the Spurs have the sixth best offense, fifth best defense in the league, and the top point differential as well.

That means they score a lot, don't allow other teams to score much, and win by a pretty healthy margin. I'd say that also makes them pretty exciting. Yeah, they may not throw up as many lobs as the Clipper but they do what matters.

They win.
