Donald Sterling: Clippers Are Not For Sale

New NBA commissioner Adam Silver brought the hammer down on Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for the racial remarks released to TMZ and the world over the weekend--banned for life and a $2.5 million fine (max allowed by league).

Silver went on to say that he is going to encourage the Board to force Silver to sell which the league may have to do if it wants to be rid of Sterling for good.

Prior to the press conference early Tuesday afternoon Jim Gray spoke with Sterling over the phone. While Gray could not say much about the conversation he did say that Sterling told him he is not going to sell the team.

Hopefully he'll change his mind after hearing the punishment Silver is imposing on him. The team will sell for a premium making him a bundle of money, but if he tries to hold on to it he is going to have trouble fielding a team or getting someone to coach whoever is willing to play for him.

Since that will translate into a loss in the accounting ledger rather than a profit his economic sense will out and he'll sell.
