Indianapolis Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw on Pace to Set Receiving Record

When the Colts picked up former New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw the hope was that he could provide some insurance in the backfield in case Trent Richardson did not pan out. A neck injury early in the season last year forced the team to do so anyway, but this year he has been healthy and eager to prove his worth.

Six games in to the season he has already accomplished that task. If he keeps it up he could even set a new NFL record this season.

In this day and age where passing rules the game the single season record for receiving touchdowns by a running back is nine. At the rate Bradshaw is catching  touchdown passes from Andrew Luck he'll hit that mark against Jacksonsville in Week 12.

With five games to play after that he could very well shatter the existing record.

However, some may argue that nine is not actually the real record, but that it is 13 set by Terry Barr of the Detroit Lions back in 1963. Barr is listed as having played halfback that season (making him a running back), but he only had one carry that year. The bulk of his work came as catching passes (66 catches, 1086 yards) so many refer to him as a wide receiver instead.

Bradshaw could make the argument a moot point anyway. At his current rate he'll have 13 touchdown receptions for the season.
