Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield Trolls Longhorns on Instagram Following Red River Rivalry [PHOTO]

One of the best and longest running rivalries in college football--the Red River Rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners--added another classic game to the record books Saturday. Recent history has been kinder to the Sooners, but Texas managed to upset the heavily favored Oklahoma team last season and nearly did on Saturday.

All in all it was a pretty good game; one worthy of showing respect not the usual hate. Apparently former Texas Tech-turned Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield felt differently.

It wasn't anything big, but after the game Mayfield posted a picture of himself--not his team or a key play in the game--to his Instagram account with the caption:

Sucks to be a Longhorn. #boomer

Losing does suck, especially when there were so many self-inflicted wounds in that game for Texas. So in that respect he has a point. Otherwise the appropriate response to Mayfield is this: Who are you? Did you play?

Earn the right the right to talk trash before you do it Mayfield.

  1. I saw him warming up before the game in street clothes--the only time he saw the field. He was actually wearing a baseball cap backwards. Total dork.

  2. Unlike Saturday, Mayfield DID play most of the Texas game last year as a Sand Aggy...

And had a QBR of 17.6 in that 4 TD beatdown.

    Guess he's still bitter.

  3. Guess he's still bitter about the beatdown Texas put on him when he was at Tech. 7 sacks, no TDs. Yep, that's hard for a him to forget. lol
