Colts RB Trent Richardson Out for Revenge Against Cleveland But May Be Too Delusional to Get It

Sunday's game is going to be a big one for the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts. The Browns need a win in order to stay within reach of the division lead and remain in contention for a wildcard spot. Indianapolis needs to maintain its lead over the surprising Houston Texans in its division. As big as the game is for each team it aims to be even bigger for Colts running back Trent Richardson.

The former first round pick of the Cleveland Browns is out for revenge.

After watching him gain just 2.9 yards a carry on the Browns decided to take advantage of an optimistic Colts team that was willing to give up a first round pick for the former Alabama running back. So after a little more than a season they sent him packing to Indianapolis.

With the way it went down Richardson would like nothing more than to prove the Browns were wrong to give up on him so quick:
"They gave up on me," Richardson said. "I'm going to go into this game like it's my last one."
So far it doesn't look like the Browns did make a mistake. Since joining the Colts Richardson has averaged a pathetic 2.9 yards a carry in 14 games, but that along with the criticism hasn't stopped him from being optimistic.
"A lot of people are saying, 'He's a mistake. He's this. He's that,'" Richardson said. "Well, watch these next four weeks, because it ain't like I've been playing bad football."
He hasn't been playing bad football? Against New England he had six carries for zero yards. Last weekend against Washington he had eight carries for 12 yards.

Trent--that's bad football. When you consider that the team's other running back,  Daniel Herron, rushed for 153 yards on 20 carries during the same two games it is really bad (and has nothing to do with the lack of rushing lanes).

Maybe the problem has been a lack of proper motivation. Pride doesn't seem to be working since he believes he is playing good football. Money doesn't seem to work with contract time not too far off for him. Maybe revenge will be what finally does it.

However, if it doesn't he has already set the stage for an excuse why:
"It's big. There's going to be a lot of emotion," he said. "It's going to be hard trying to stay mentally into it."
