Seattle Seahawks Fan To Give Jermaine Kearse Back Ball From Game Winning Touchdown

When Jermaine Kearse hauled in the pass from Russell Wilson to win the NFC Championship and send the Seattle Seahawks back to the Super Bowl it was a moment unlike any other. After seeing almost every ball that came his way during the first four quarters get intercepted it was a relief to make one catch and especially one that meant so much.

So in the moment he decided to just throw the ball as hard as he could up in to the stands. Afterwards he realized it would be nice to have it, but he wasn't worried about it.

"That throw," said Kearse, chuckling, "It was more so just a sigh of just frustration. Just letting a lot of frustration throughout that game out. I just tried to throw it as far as possible. It was just something that happened in the moment."
The guy that caught it, Scott Shelton, couldn't believe his luck, but when the unemployed father of two got the chance to sell it for $20,000 he said no. He wanted to give it back to Kearse instead so when the call from Kearse came he was more than happy to do it.
"...He told me he wanted to trade his game helmet signed by the team and his jersey, for the ball. And then he asked me what (else) I wanted for the ball. And I said 'honestly, it would be nice to go see you guys whip New England in the Super Bowl.' So he's going to see what he can do about that. But I told him I wouldn't give it up unless it was going to him. I wouldn't want anyone else to have it."
It's always nice to see a fan willing to give something back to a player that means as much as this touchdown does to Kearse, but it had to have been awful hard to turn down $20K. With as much as bloggers make I can't say that I would have.
