New Houston Coach Padlocks Locker Room; Tells Players They Have to Earn it

Sometimes when you are the new guy on the block you have to do what you have to do in order to prove you mean business. Apparently having a track record of success like former Ohio State offensive coordinator turned head coach of the Houston Cougars Tom Herman is not enough for some of his players.

So he decided to prove he means business. With the temperature a nice 40 degrees in Houston around 4: 45 in the morning he padlocked the locker room shut and said thee players had to earn their way back in.

This is what Herman had to say to the Houston Chronicle about his early morning sessions:
"This morning's workout was actually the culmination of three days of our team earning their way back into the locker room,” Herman said. "We had a few guys that might have decided, for whatever reason, to take advantage of the transition of coaching and try to toe the line a little bit in some areas, whether it be with workouts or classes. We wanted to see who really wanted to be part of the team.
Hmmm...sounds like he might have been inspired by another college coach in the state of Texas. Tough love seems to be working well for him. Whoever these players are that doubt Herman's credentials must not have watched the National Championship game.
