It Looks Like Michael Sam May Be Headed to the Canadian Football League

Michael Sam, like any college football player, wants to play professional football. Whether it is his sexuality that is holding him back or his game we will never know for certain. It certainly didn't help his case when he had a terrible day at the veteran combine. While that may have put a nail in his NFL coffin for now hee may still be able to play ball anyway.

Just in Canada and not the United States.

The Montreal Gazette is reporting that Sam and the Alouettes are in talks and could come to terms soon:
The CFL is cut out perfectly for his style. It would give him the opportunity to do what he does best. His agent knows. They're ready. They know this (CFL) may be what it is. It's Michael who has to make the decision—and he might never come. The indications were he was ready to come last fall, and he's still not with us. So I really don't know. Seriously, I'd say our chances are 50-50.
If Sam wants to play in the NFL this is going to be his best chance to make it in to the league someday especially after tanking the veteran combine. He needs to prove he can play at a high level, and while the CFL is not top notch competition if he can become a stud there it will make NFL teams take notice.

It worked for Cameron Wake (played two years with the BC Lions before signing with the Dolphins) and it could work for him.
