WATCH: South Carolina WR Damiere Byrd Runs 4.28 40-Yard Dash

South Carolina wide receiver Damiere Byrd is not a name that a lot of folks that are not fans of the Gamecocks are going to know. In his four years with the team he caught just 68 balls for 1265 yards and 10 touchdowns. So it is not hard to see why he wasn't invited to the combine. After the day he had at South Carolina's Pro Day you kind of have to wonder why the Gamecocks didn't use him more.

His numbers were pretty damn impressive.

His 40 was blazing fast at 4.28 seconds:

The rest of his day was pretty solid too. His 60-yard shuttle run was pretty nice at 10.9 seconds (faster than any time at the combine).

Clearly he has the kind of speed that NFL teams love. He is a little on the small side at 5'9" and just 170 pounds though which will make it hard for him to be an every down receiver. Byrd could, however, be the next Trindon Holliday type player and be a real threat returning kicks and punts.

His size may keep him from being drafted, but his speed will get him in to camp with someone.
