Stage Is Set For Bengals QB Andy Dalton To Finally Get A Big Win In Prime Time (maybe)

Andy Dalton is getting all kinds of love these day, and with good reason. The Bengals quarterback is playing the best football of his young career while leading the Bengals to an undefeated 7-0 record. He is actually being talked about as a potential MVP candidate. Yes, the guy the home town fans booed at a charity softball game is now loved by the fans and an MVP candidate.

However, before those talks can actually become legit he needs to do one thing he has always struggled with in the past--win in prime time.

Dalton has always been at his worst in prime time games which is not good since most playoff games are in prime time. So far this season the Bengals have yet to play in a prime time game, but they will for the first time Thursday when they play the Browns.

Yes, they have played and won a challenging game against the Seattle Seahawks, but that game wasn't on prime time.

He is in luck though. The last time they played the Browns was late last season. It also happened to be Johnny Manziel's first start. The Bengals rocked him then and will look to do it again Thursday.

However, it is important to note that Dalton didn't really have a good game himself (14-24 for 117 yards and an interception). Like last year, the Browns defense does not suck, so they could give Dalton a lot of trouble.

Johnny Manziel is not the same guy either. He still has plenty to learn, but the Browns are hoping he can do enough to secure the starting role going forward. The Bengals defense is pretty tough, and will not make it easy for him to do so.

So on one hand the stage is set for him to actually win in prime time should Johnny Manziel play like the same guy the Bengals saw last season. If he plays like the new and improved Manziel the team hopes he is Dalton could be in trouble--again.
