Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator Really Wants Jameis Winston To Dive Less [VIDEO]

When it comes down to it, a quarterback has to do whatever it takes to win. If that means taking on a big, bad linebacker and making him feel the pain than so be it--right? Not exactly. Yes, when the game is on the line you have to make the play by any means necessary. However, that doesn't mean offensive coordinators are going to like it.

Tamp Bay offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter wished his quarterback (Jameis Winston) would not anymore.

When asked about the dive that almost cost Tampa Bay the game against Dallas, Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter had this to say:
"I feel sick to my stomach," Koetter said, per ESPN. "There's no question he's willing to do anything. You can never question Jameis' heart. So from that standpoint -- shoot, I tell Lovie to talk to him about that because he's not listening to me. You can't question his heart, but that is a very dangerous play.
"It's a dangerous injury (potential) to me, No. 1, which would hurt our football team. And second, as many times as you see guys do that, they fumble it a lot. So I would rather see him go low and try to get it across that way. Again, you can't coach every single thing out of these guys. Their instincts take over and they're playing football."
He's got a pretty good point. As much as you want to win, you really do not want to lose your starting quarterback. When you attempt such a play you leave yourself wide open to getting abused by a defender.

Had it not been for the Dallas defense screwing up it would have cost Tampa Bay the game.

So--will Winston dive less going forward? We'll have to wait and see.
