Toledo’s Alonzo Russell Ejected After Blindside Hit To The Head Of Western Michigan DB Asantay Brown [VIDEO]

Sometimes you can't help but wonder what in the heck some guys are thinking when they step on the field. Yes, football is a contact sport, but not contact without purpose. Alonzo Russell was away from the play as was Western Michigan's Asantay Brown. There is no need to hit anyone so most players typically don't. If you do, it is a penalty.

For some reason Toledo's Alonzo Russell thought it was a good idea to hit Brown in the head. The blow sent Brown to the turf and he ended up having go be taken off the field on a stretcher.

Initially there was no flag on the play, but after Brown was taken away the ref called it targeting and ejected Russell.
