The U.S. just doesn't know what it is missing out on when it comes to rugby. Yes, I know that it does exist in the U.S. and that the college sevens championship is on television each year. The coming tournament in Vegas (February I believe) is also televised.
For those of us that do the joys and pains that come as a part of the great game of rugby that is not enough. There is so much great action that goes on throughout the year and unless we have some special cable channel (that you have to pay for) you can't catch any good 15s action on TV.
For those that don't know much about the game picture watching intramural flag football instead of the NFL game. That's a lot like watching sevens; potentially challenging and interesting--better than nothing--but not a substitute for the real thing.
Anyway...
Hopefully one day the United States will embrace rugby. That way things like this flash mob that the Maori All-Blacks did back in November in London might happen here:
