Bill Walton Does it Again; Big Fan of 'First Take'

I am now a fan of Bill Walton the announcer (already had mad respect for the basketball player). The man is clearly making fun of the very network that he works for. He did it first the other night with his Ray Lewis and Bill Simmons comments. This time he was a little more overt:

With his Lewis/Simmons comments he was sly about it. This time it became the subject of conversation between him and his broadcast partner!

I can't imagine ESPN not responding to this. Once again he is thumbing his nose at the network and its decision making of late. The only thing that may save him from a suspension of any kind would be that he never directly insulted anyone.

All of his comments were technically in favor of the controversial show even though he was clearly being sarcastic.

However, if I put my conspiracy hat on I can imagine a scenario where ESPN is doing stuff like this (allowing  Bill Walton to act a fool) on purpose. These days people pay attention to controversy more than anything else. First Take has been a magnet for that!

And there is no such thing as bad press, right?

Then again, if that was the case the network would not have suspended Bill Simmons from Twitter for bashing  First Take following the Richard Sherman episode.

But the conspiracy hat recognizes the intense amount of exposure that the suspension has given them.

Hmmm...could ESPN be turning into media manipulators? The stuff you can come up with when you wear the conspiracy hat...
