That's just how the good ones stay on top sometimes. It's unfortunate, but cheating happens. As it turns out the concept of cheating in order to stay on top is not germane to just jocks. Even nerds will cheat to get what they want-- victory!
Such is the case with Harvard University. At a time when the school should be basking in the glory of the school's first win in March Madness history it is faced with a scandal in another competition; one in which it is often expected to do very well in.
Quiz Bowls.
Yes, sports fans, they have recently proven to be talented on the basketball court taking down a heavily favored New Mexico team 68-62, but where they are expected to be studs they cheated.
It was recently discovered that a student, Andy Watkins, had accessed the administrative page of the National Academic Quiz Tournaments prior to competition in 2009, '10, and '11. As a result the school is having to vacate all its wins including its national titles.
Watkins claims that he did nothing wrong, and that the teams competed in good faith.
"My immaturity damaged my much-prized relationship with NAQT and cast undue doubt on three remarkable accomplishments by three Harvard teams," said Watkins. "...I know everyone will make their own judgments, I did compete in good faith."
Too smart for his own good.
